The McIntyres on Great Cumbrae
'Figgi' is a working farm that sits at the top of the Island of Great Cumbrae with spectacular views across the Firth of Clyde to the islands of Arran and Bute.
Alister and Rena McIntyre live and work on the farm where they breed and rear Simmental cattle. It is a traditional grassland farm with a herd of 95 breeding cows. Alister’s grandfather came to the farm which at that time was predominantly dairy in the nineteen-thirties. The farm remains in the Mcintyre family run by Alister who is proud to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and father before. Recently Rena has re-introduced a small number of hens to the farm providing a regular source of fresh eggs.
